Artificial grass cleaning in Oldham
Artificial grass stops looking after itself after a couple of years. The pile flattens, the sand between the fibres packs down, moss takes the shaded side, and if there is a dog in the house the smell arrives in the first warm week of the year.
Ring, or email info@rightchoicecarpetcleaning.co.uk. We are based in Oldham, so this is local work rather than a trip out.

What goes wrong, and in what order
A fake lawn fails in a predictable sequence. Knowing which stage yours is at decides the visit.
Pet urine is the usual reason people ring
Urine passes through the fibres and soaks into the sand underneath. A hose puts clean water over a contaminated layer and changes nothing, which is why the smell comes back with the first warm day. Heat is what releases it.
The infill itself has to be treated: sanitising through the pile, then flushing so the residue leaves the lawn rather than settling lower in it. Where a dog has used the same corner for years the infill sometimes has to come out and be replaced, and that gets priced and agreed before anyone starts rather than discovered halfway through.
It is always one corner. That corner usually needs a second pass.

What the visit involves
- Debris cleared off the lawn
- Power brush through the pile to lift the fibres and break up the packed infill
- Moss and algae killed rather than swept
- Weeds taken out of the seams and edges, root included
- Sanitising and deodorising where pets use the lawn
- Infill topped up and brushed level
The order is not arbitrary. Adding sand before the old infill is loosened just puts new sand on top of a compacted layer.
Oldham gardens, and why they green over faster
Oldham sits higher and wetter than the city, and it shows on artificial grass. A lawn in Failsworth and the same lawn in Diggle are not the same maintenance job.
Up the Saddleworth side
Through Delph, Uppermill, Greenfield and Grasscroft the gardens are often stone walled, cut into a slope, and overlooked by a hillside that takes the sun off them by mid afternoon. Those lawns go green within a season if the moss is brushed off rather than killed, and the slope moves the infill downhill faster than a flat garden ever will.
The newer estates
Royton, Chadderton and Shaw are the opposite: level, open, smaller plots, and very often a dog. Those are pet odour and packed infill rather than moss.
Hollinwood and Failsworth
In the terraced streets the fake lawn is usually the entire back yard, walled on three sides, over flags rather than soil. Water has nowhere to go except the drain it was laid to, so a blocked backing shows up as standing water in days.
Booked with it
The patio, path and drive around a fake lawn carry the same moss, and most people do the lot in one visit rather than pay twice for setting up. Driveway cleaning in Oldham covers that.
Artificial grass cleaning in Royton and artificial grass cleaning in Manchester cover the same work either side of here.

Questions people ask
Because it is in the sand under the fibres. Water on top never reaches it, and warm weather brings it out again.
Once a year for most gardens. A shaded garden up the Saddleworth side, or any lawn with a dog on it, is better done more often.
For a good while, if it was killed rather than brushed. A walled, north-facing garden will always be the first to go green again.
Top it up, in most cases. Years of pet contamination is the exception, and then replacing it is sometimes the only thing that works.
Usually. Flat is packed infill and lying fibres, and both come back with power brushing. Fibres actually melted by a barbecue or a garden mirror do not.
Yes, all of them, and the villages out towards Diggle. We are based in Oldham, so the whole borough is local work.
Yes, once dry. Ask on the day how long to keep them off, since it varies with what the lawn needed.
